SCREEN JUICE’s Morbid Metal is a promising blend of action and rogue-lite gameplay, and though it launched with limited content, its potential is huge. The developers have shared a roadmap detailing upcoming additions, starting May 21st with new sub-biomes and improvements to enemy behavior.
We’re focusing on making the game’s core features better and more accessible. However, the big update coming this early summer will be even more impactful. It will introduce both temporary and lasting improvements, as well as new ways to gather resources called “aura farming.” We’re also planning to update how combo systems work.
A significant update is coming this late summer, introducing fun minigames, expanding the Void with new areas to explore, and adding a fourth playable hero to the game.
So, looking ahead to Fall and beyond, the developers are really focusing on building out the story – it felt a little thin before, and they want to add a lot more depth with expanded lore and some cool new cinematic scenes. Basically, we can expect more of everything we already love – tougher enemies, epic bosses, and tons of new loot! I’m really hoping this also means we’ll get some brand new areas to explore with all these new challenges, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Please keep in mind that dates and details are likely to change, and we’ll share updates as they become available. It’s going to take some time before the final version 1.0 is ready.
Morbid Metal is now available on PC. In our first look review, we were impressed with the game’s core mechanics and its level design, which feels similar to Returnal.
