PlayStation Plus members on PS4 and PS5 will receive a new free game in May 2026, and early reactions suggest it features incredibly challenging and well-designed boss battles. The game launches on May 5th and will be available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers – those with Essential, Extra, or Premium memberships – on both PS4 and PS5. It’s generating buzz online, with many on the PS Plus Reddit page recommending it for players who enjoy a tough challenge.
Okay, so I’ve been checking out the PS Plus subreddit, and everyone is seriously hyped about this game called Nine Sols! It’s an action platformer coming to all PS Plus tiers on May 5th and will be free for about a month. Apparently, it’s got an 84 on Metacritic, which is pretty good, but people are saying it deserves even higher praise. It’s rocking a 4.67 out of 5 on the PlayStation Store and is ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ on Steam, so honestly, it’s no surprise the subreddit is going crazy for it. I’m definitely adding it to my list!
“Nine Sols Is Incredible”
For fans of Sekiro, Nine Sols is coming to PS Plus in May, and I highly recommend it. It features fantastic exploration, a beautiful art style, challenging and enjoyable bosses, and what many consider to be the best combat in a 2D platformer. If you enjoyed the precise, dance-like combat of Sekiro, you should definitely check this game out.
On its own, this post isn’t particularly remarkable, but it’s gaining traction, and many comments echo the same idea.
Players are praising the final boss fight as both incredibly challenging and one of the best they’ve ever experienced. One commenter specifically highlighted the game Nine Sols, calling its combat and boss fights outstanding.
One player perfectly summed it up, saying they still return to the game just to experience the boss fights. They found the combat incredibly addictive and smooth, hitting that same satisfying spot as games like Sekiro and Sifu.
If you’re interested, Nine Sols normally costs $30 on the PlayStation Store, making it a great value for PlayStation Plus members. Plus, it’s a fairly lengthy game – most players on PS4 and PS5 can expect to spend around 20 to 30 hours completing it.
