Summer movie season is just around the corner, and this year’s lineup is full of big films – from superhero adventures to scary movies and science fiction epics. One of the most anticipated releases is Travis Knight’s reboot of Masters of the Universe. After nearly 40 years since the last attempt to bring He-Man to the big screen, the director of Bumblebee and the creative force behind Laika is poised to deliver what could be the year’s biggest fantasy film. Early indications are promising, with the team showing a strong attention to detail and a dedication to honoring the source material.
As part of ComicBook’s Summer Preview, launching today, we’re excited to share a first look at three classic villains from the upcoming movie, thanks to our collaboration with Amazon MGM Studio and Mattel Studios. The exclusive image offers the best view yet of Spikor (played by James Apps), Goat Man (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), and Karg – who was originally portrayed by Roger Towers in the 1987 film. You can see the image below.

Masters of the Universe is Packed With Villains
Besides the three main villains, Masters of the Universe features a wide range of antagonists, including Skeletor (played by Jared Leto), Tri-Clops (Kojo Attah), Pigboy, Beastman, and Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie). They’ll all battle He-Man/Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), who returns to Eternia after 15 years in exile when he recovers the Sword of Power. He finds his home world ravaged by Skeletor and must team up with Teela (Camila Mendes) and Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba) to fight back.
Many of the villains from the original Knight movie also appeared in the 1987 film alongside Dolph Lundgren. Frank Langella famously played Skeletor, with characters like Evil-Lyn, Beastman, Karg, and Pigboy also featured. While Blade and Saurod haven’t been confirmed for the new reboot yet, we can anticipate some unexpected characters. Notably, there’s been no mention of Orko, but it’s likely he’ll play a role.
The movie Masters of the Universe is coming out on June 5, 2026, from Amazon MGM Studios. Are you planning to watch it? Share your thoughts in the comments and join the discussion in the ComicBook Forum!
