The Hunger Games is a hugely popular dystopian series that began in 2012 with the first film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. Based on Suzanne Collins’ novels, the series now includes five movies and has earned over $3 billion worldwide, with more potentially on the way. While the films are usually available on streaming services, they’re now available for free – though there’s a catch for fans.
Good news for fans of The Hunger Games! You can now watch the first four movies in the series for free on Tubi. These films follow Katniss Everdeen’s story, from her fight for survival in the Hunger Games to her role as a leader in the rebellion against the Capitol. However, the newest movie, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, isn’t currently on Tubi. You can find that one on streaming services that require a subscription, like Hulu, AMC+, and Philo.
The Hunger Games Franchise Is Streaming on Tubi at the Perfect Time
With a new Hunger Games movie coming soon, it’s a great time that the original films are now available for free streaming. Fans can revisit the world of Panem before seeing The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the sixth installment in the series. This new movie, based on a book by Suzanne Collins, tells the story of a young Haymitch Abernathy and his experience in the 50th Hunger Games—a particularly challenging edition where each district sends twice as many children to compete.
The new movie, coming to theaters on November 20th, takes place 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games and smoothly connects that story to the world of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It doesn’t just explain how Haymitch became the mentor we know – it also gives us a look at the history of Katniss’s family and characters like Mags and Effie Trinket. We’ll also see early appearances from figures like Plutarch Heavensbee, Beetee, and Wiress. The film deepens our understanding of District 12’s past, referencing groups like the Covey and the Meadow, and adds more detail to the origins of the rebellion.
What’s New on Tubi?
Tubi is adding a lot of new movies in May, and everything is available to stream for free! Along with all The Hunger Games films, viewers can enjoy titles like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, No Country for Old Men, Edward Scissorhands, Practical Magic, Don’t Breathe, Flags of Our Fathers, and Face/Off.
