The May 4, 2026, event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with its “Costume Art” theme and “Fashion Is Art” dress code, delivered a stunning display of creative outfits, just as co-chairs Anna Wintour, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams had hoped.

For her seventh Met Gala, Cardi B turned heads with her most daring outfit yet: a massive, see-through Marc Jacobs gown covered in black lace. The dress had a unique, almost sculptural shape, hinting at the form of the human body.
One person on X described the designer’s work as resembling “lace covered intestines,” while another bluntly compared it to a “human colon.”
As another social media user quipped, “It’s giving lymphedema. I live ya Cardi but no.”

Cardi B explained to The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that she always aims for excellence and lasting impact. While some might say who attends an event isn’t important, she believes it’s crucial to be remembered for years to come.
She made a grand entrance at the event that year, arriving with a team of nine people to ensure her long, flowing Windowsen gown looked its best. She was a little late to the “Garden of Time” party, but the dramatic effect was worth it.
Last year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was a perfect fit for Cardi B, who wowed the crowd in a stunning green velvet outfit designed by Burberry’s Daniel Lee.
