Kim Kardashian Reveals Her Surprising Meal Before Met Gala 2026

It’s Met Gala Monday, but Kim Kardashian is focusing on the sundae.

The Kardashian star is known for making a splash at the Met Gala, but this year, her preparations were surprisingly relaxed. Instead of last-minute hair changes or struggling with high heels, she enjoyed a delicious dessert before the event. (Check out photos of all the celebrities arriving here.)

Just hours before walking the red carpet in a striking orange outfit designed by Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem, Kim shared a surprisingly down-to-earth moment – enjoying an ice cream cone with chocolate and sprinkles.

She shared a look at her special meal on her Instagram Story, captioning it, “Met prep.”

Kim Kardashian, who has four children – North (12), Saint (10), Chicago (8), and Psalm (6) – with Kanye West, made a striking appearance at the Met Gala. Her outfit was a futuristic look inspired by the artwork Allen Jones: Maitresse, a collection of paintings that began as a movie poster project in the 1970s.

It’s by this incredible artist, and the gallery says it’s all about this totally intense, consuming romance between a guy who’s a bit of a hustler and this unbelievably powerful dominatrix. The painting itself? It’s everything. Seriously, it’s this woman, all leather and heels, standing right in front of this curtain, and she’s holding a bullwhip! It’s just… perfection. I’ve been obsessed with this artist for ages, and seeing Kim share it just made my day!

Kim’s preparations for the Met Gala included a less strict diet than in previous years, but she’s previously described the very intense diets she’s followed to get ready for the event.

For the 2022 Met Gala, which celebrated American fashion, Kim Kardashian wore the iconic nude dress previously worn by Marilyn Monroe when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. The dress was designed by Bob Mackie.

She needed to fit into the dress without any changes, so she lost 16 pounds in just three weeks to make it work.

“It was such a challenge,” she told Vogue at the time. “It was like a role. I was determined to fit.”

She described a very intense routine: wearing a sauna suit twice daily, running on the treadmill, and eliminating all sugar and carbohydrates from her diet. She focused on eating only the healthiest vegetables and protein. While she wasn’t starving herself, she was incredibly disciplined about what she ate.

After facing criticism for her actions, Kim defended herself, stating she hadn’t engaged in any unhealthy behavior.

“To me it was like, ‘OK, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role and that is acceptable.’ Even Renée Zellweger gained weight for a role,” Kim told The New York Times. “It’s all the same to me. I wasn’t saying, ‘Hey everyone, why don’t you go lose this weight in a short period of time?'”

Plus, she loves to reward herself with some indulgent food once the night is over.

In 2022, she posted on Instagram that she was really hungry after visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She excitedly shared that her favorite donuts – tiny ones from New York City – were right there with her, calling them ‘so cute!’

She revealed that her hotel room had a whole feast of pizza boxes stacked up and ready.

She explained she hadn’t eaten any carbs or sugar for nearly a month – at least three weeks – and expressed her excitement about finally having a slice of pizza.
