If you watched last night’s presentation, you likely already know that Stranger Than Heaven won’t have voiceover options, a feature included in recent games from developer RGG Studio.
This means the series won’t have a separate English dub, but it also won’t be limited to just a Japanese audio track.
The game includes many characters who speak two languages, like the main character, Makoto Daito. He was raised in the United States and returns to Japan, his mother’s home country, at the beginning of the story.
For the first time ever, a game from RGG Studio will feature characters changing the language they speak based on who they’re conversing with.
The casting of Yu Shirota, a Japanese-Spanish actor fluent in both Japanese and English, clearly highlights this focus.
Just so you know, this information comes directly from the game’s official website. In the product details, it clearly says you can’t change the voice language.
It’s a little disappointing, honestly, because we were really curious to hear how the RGG Studio team would handle voicing Snoop Dogg in Japanese.
The website supports subtitles in many languages, including Japanese, Korean, both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (from both Spain and Latin America), Russian, Polish, and Portuguese (from Brazil).
What are your thoughts on how the film Stranger Than Heaven uses both English and Spanish to tell its story? Please share your comments in English.
