Jacob Sugden, played by Joe-Warren Plant, was shocked to learn something significant from Dr. Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) on Emmerdale.
Honestly, I was really thrown for a loop learning about Jacob’s situation. Apparently, that awful Todd filed a complaint against him at the hospital! And it’s not just some casual accusation – she’s put together a whole file of evidence, including voice recordings, trying to make it look like he’s obsessive and won’t be able to finish medical school. It’s just… a mess, and I’m really worried about how this will play out for him.
Anxious to resolve the conflict, he rushed to Tug Ghyll and tried to convince her to withdraw her complaint. He was secretly recording the conversation, and for a moment, it looked like his plan might work.
Todd responded with laughter, admitting she enjoyed upsetting him and that he was just one of many she’d treated this way. She then playfully poked his chest, comparing the feeling to the satisfaction of popping balloons, before taking his phone and deleting the recording he’d made.
He was mortified, rushing out into the street and screaming.

The biggest problem with Todd’s actions is the shocking secret she’s holding over Jacob. She’s found out that he and his wife, Sarah, aren’t Leyla’s biological parents. In fact, Charity Dingle was the one who unexpectedly became pregnant while acting as their surrogate.
Desperate to keep her job, Todd threatened Charity, forcing her to convince Jacob to withdraw his original complaint.
Today, things came to a head and he went back to the hospital to talk to someone in HR. While he was there, a colleague was giving a moving speech, and was surprised with a bouquet of flowers.
It turned out she was saying goodbye, as she’d decided to retire earlier than planned. She was worried about losing her career, so she chose to leave the medical field proactively, before things got worse.

I thought Sarah was right – Jacob really should finish that report. But he felt like everything bad had already happened, and he was determined to just put it behind him and keep going.
At The Woolpack pub, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) pressed Todd for answers about why she’d made a quick decision. She wondered if Jacob had influenced her, and though Todd didn’t directly say he had, Vanessa cautioned that the truth would come out eventually.
Something tells us that this is only just the beginning of Jacob’s torment…
