Galactus and the Fantastic Four have a long history together, ever since Galactus first appeared in a 1961 issue of the comic. He’s been both a friend and foe to the team, and because of this, the Fantastic Four have gotten to know Galactus’s helpers, called Heralds, very well. They even played a role in teaching the Silver Surfer about people! They introduced Galactus to Frankey Raye, who later became a Herald herself, and even Franklin Richards briefly served as one of Galactus’s Heralds. Because of this close connection, it’s particularly noteworthy when a member of the Fantastic Four becomes a Herald, even if just for a short time.
In recent issues of Fantastic Four (2025), the team faced off against an evil counterpart of Sue Storm, calling herself the Invincible Woman. She appeared to be unbeatable, and was even attempting to destroy Galactus with her powers. The conflict led the Fantastic Four on a chase back to Earth, culminating in a massive battle in issue #10. The only way to resolve the crisis was for Galactus to share some of his Power Cosmic with Sue. Though temporary, this transformation turned Sue into a Herald of Galactus, revealing her incredible potential to the universe.
The Invincible Will of the Invisible Woman

The villainous Sue came to Earth determined to destroy it. Marvel’s strongest heroes teamed up to stop her, but none of them could overcome her incredible abilities. She easily defeated SHIELD’s defenses and deliberately tormented Deadpool and Wolverine because of their healing powers. Even a combined effort from all the heroes only managed to frustrate her. When she grew tired of fighting, she attempted to use a massive microwave beam to boil away the atmosphere. Luckily, Sue had anticipated this and set a trap to redirect the energy back at the villain, defeating her and saving the planet. The heroes then still had to rescue Galactus.
Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, concentrated so much power into Galactus’s injury that a dangerous point of energy formed. She attempted to use Johnny Storm’s flames as a focused beam to neutralize it, but he couldn’t produce enough heat. Galactus then shared some of his cosmic power with Sue, temporarily giving her abilities similar to the Silver Surfer. Even with this boost, bending the light from a single star wasn’t enough. Sue gathered light from every star in the sky, creating a massive laser that ultimately saved Galactus. After losing the cosmic power, Sue explored her remaining abilities with a compass and discovered she possessed a similar potential to the Invincible Woman, though she hadn’t fully unlocked it yet.
A New Direction for an Underrespected Powerhouse

Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, is arguably the most powerful member of the Fantastic Four. While initially presented as the team’s weakest link – her invisibility didn’t offer much attack power – she’s grown tremendously over time. Even before storylines explored her full capabilities, she demonstrated immense power, like making the entire Earth invisible early in the series. Sue possesses the ability to cause global-scale events, and her time as Galactus’s herald highlighted her potential. Though she occasionally displays incredible strength, stories don’t consistently showcase her power, and that needs to be rectified.
I don’t think Sue should become a permanent Herald of Galactus, but I really enjoyed seeing her gain so much power. It felt right given her long relationship with Galactus, and the image of her creating a laser from universal light is truly memorable. As the leader and most powerful member of the Fantastic Four, she’s earned this level of recognition. It’s time people started recognizing how powerful the Invisible Woman truly is. She has the potential to be a major force, and her family would definitely support her embracing that potential.
