Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Has Exciting Surprise For Fans in July

The second season of the popular anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End finished airing in March, and it adapted what many fans consider to be the best story arc from the original manga. The show follows Frieren and her companions as they travel north, now with Fern established as a powerful mage. Their ultimate goal is to reach Aureole, a place where spirits rest, but they’re determined to continue their journey until they arrive. This season covered the “Continued Travels” and “Divine Revolte” arcs, and also began setting up the story for the upcoming “Golden Land” arc. According to @animetv_jp, a trusted anime and manga news source, a special event for the series will be held at Anime Expo on July 4th, 2026.

Anime Expo, a yearly celebration of Japanese pop culture in California, is happening July 2nd-5th. For over 30 years, it’s been a place where fans get exciting news, exclusive merchandise, and participate in panels and workshops. Because the convention is so close to the release of the anime’s third season, fans are hoping to hear some updates there. More details about the event will be announced soon.

What to Expect From Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3

Season 3 of the anime is scheduled to premiere next October and will cover the highly anticipated Golden Land Arc. The official website revealed this news and also shared a first glimpse of Mahat, a key character in the arc and one of the powerful Seven Sages of Destruction. The new season will follow Frieren and her companions as they travel to a legendary land said to be made of gold.

Frieren and her companions don’t know it yet, but the anime has revealed that Denken, a powerful mage who took the exam with Fern, comes from a specific hometown. They’ll meet up with him again in Season 3 and assist him as he faces a difficult challenge and prepares for his final battle.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End  Is Still on Indefinite Hiatus

The anime is currently on hold, and the manga has been on indefinite break since October 2025 with no news about when it might continue. This pause was announced because the creators, writer Kanehito Yamada and illustrator Tsukasa Abe, needed more time to work on the series due to health concerns, allowing them to proceed at a comfortable pace.

This is the second time the series has paused this year. It briefly returned in July after a break in January, but is now on hiatus again. The creators are using this time to rest and work on the story at a sustainable pace. They’re adjusting their schedule and plan to resume publishing in a few months.
