Most viewers agree that Sony’s recent State of Play event was impressive, despite the fact that some key announcements had already been revealed beforehand.
The announcement of God of War Laufey would have been even more impactful if it had come as a total surprise, especially since people have been talking about a possible Until Dawn 2 for a while. Still, I think Santa Monica Studio successfully took control of the reveal by showcasing a lengthy 23-minute video filled with gameplay, cutscenes, and impressive moments.
That was a smart move.
Immediately after the livestream ended, we asked for your feedback with a poll. With over 6,500 responses – our largest number yet – 70% of viewers said they enjoyed the State of Play. Here’s a breakdown of what people liked:

I was checking out the comments, and Mattock1987 said this was one of the best showcases they’ve had in a while. Andykara2003 even thought it was the best showcase ever – seriously, they said it was one of the best they’ve seen, period!
Afroducc enjoyed the new Rayman announcements (and even updated their profile picture!), while UltimateOtaku91 shared their favorite moments from the show, including reveals for God of War Laufey, Marvel’s Wolverine, and the new Tomb Raider game, Legacy of Atlantis.
Ainu20 wasn’t a fan of the livestream, stating it didn’t make a strong impression. While the God of War segment looked good, they felt it resembled the style of recent Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, which concerned them. They also expressed worry about the lack of communication from Naughty Dog.
I was digging through our old coverage of PlayStation’s State of Play streams, and it looks like this week’s showcase is the second best we’ve ever seen here on Push Square! The only one people liked more was back in February 2026 – that one had an amazing 82% approval rating.
