The 2022 horror film Fall was surprisingly successful, and a sequel is coming out this year. A trailer has just been released! The original movie, starring Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, was a hit despite its small budget, earning $21 million with only $3 million spent on production. It tells the story of two friends, Becky and Shiloh, who make the dangerous decision to climb a 2,000-foot abandoned TV tower in the desert – and, unsurprisingly, things go terribly wrong.
During their climb, the two women find themselves stuck on a small platform at the tower’s peak when the ladders crumble and their equipment—and cell service—fail. Becky survives, but Shiloh tragically falls. This sets the stage for the sequel, Fall 2: Deadpoint, directed by Peter & Michael Spierig (with a screenplay co-written by the original director, Scott Mann, and Jonathan Frank). The new film promises another terrifying climb that’s likely to induce vertigo, so those with a fear of heights might want to sit this one out. You can watch the trailer below.
The movie opens by introducing us to the new main characters, Jax (played by Harriet Slater) and Luce (Arsema Thomas). We first see them attempting a dangerous plank walk on Mount Kwan in Thailand, which quickly turns into a crisis when a rockslide occurs. While these characters are new to the series, there’s a link to the first movie – Jax is Shiloh’s older sister, and this detail is a nod to her memory. It’s understandable that someone dealing with the loss of a loved one in a climbing accident might not choose to repeat the experience, but people cope with grief in different ways.
Will Fall 2 Repeat The First Movie’s Success?

Although Fall did reasonably well in theaters, it truly became popular – and a viral sensation – when it started streaming. Clips from the film are frequently shared online, and one eight-minute sequence, posted by Netflix on TikTok, keeps resurfacing and gaining attention.
It’s tough to recreate the magic of a hit horror film – the disappointing performance of M3GAN 2.0 proves that – but this new movie seems more manageable in that regard. Based on the trailer, it looks just as disturbing as it should be, and that’s intentional. The goal is to make viewers feel uneasy and squeamish, and the initial footage strongly suggests it will deliver that unsettling experience.
Fall 2 will be released on September 2, 2026. A third movie is already in development.
