Superman Beats Up Lex Luthor (In His Warsuit) in New Man of Tomorrow Video

In the upcoming Man of Tomorrow sequel, Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, will be even more powerful. Though he lost to Superman (David Corenswet) in the first film and relies on his Warsuit, Lex is getting a major upgrade – he’ll be sporting the classic green suit from the DC Comics. Now that filming has begun for the 2027 release, fans are getting sneak peeks at the movie through photos and videos from the set.

We’ve gotten glimpses of Lex Luthor’s Warsuit and a hint of the villain Brainiac, with someone claiming to be Metropolis’ new ruler and demanding Lex be handed over. We previously saw a quick, blurry shot of Superman hitting Lex while he was down, and now the complete video is available, revealing more details about what happened.

The Warsuit was created to give Lex a fighting chance against Superman, but Superman is still much more powerful. Lex is thrown into the battle, and Superman quickly follows, landing several punches – though they don’t quite connect – and dominating the fight.

What’s Happening With Superman & Lex Luthor In Man Of Tomorrow?

It’s no shock to see Superman and Lex Luthor battling – they’re classic enemies. However, this movie was supposed to explore a new path, with Superman and Lex eventually joining forces to defeat the villain Brainiac (played by Lars Eidinger). It makes sense that the movie would start with them as rivals before Brainiac arrives in Metropolis, leading to a reluctant partnership. This scene could be showing that Lex hasn’t learned from past failures and still believes he can defeat Superman on his own.

You know, thinking about it, all this stuff seems to be happening at once. I’ve noticed shots of people looking up during the fight, and it was filmed around the same time they were introducing Brainiac. That makes a lot of sense – it could be a way to force the heroes to work together. Lex Luthor is a problem, sure, but he’s our problem, and Superman should deal with him here on Earth, not just hand him over to some alien villain. But here’s another idea I’ve been kicking around: what if Brainiac is actually controlling Superman, making him go after Lex? Maybe Brainiac is the one pulling the strings behind this whole beatdown!

No matter what happens, the next movie from James Gunn seems set to raise the stakes even higher than the first one. With the incredibly powerful Brainiac involved, and the potential for a showdown between him, Lex Luthor, and Superman, it’s shaping up to be a really exciting film. We’ll likely find out more details as production continues.

Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters on July 9th, 2027.
