Fans of the popular Baki martial arts series got a new installment in February with Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai. Based on Keisuke Itagaki’s manga, the Baki franchise is a huge hit on the platform. After two seasons of Baki Hanma, the latest part quickly gained millions of views worldwide upon its release. Due to its success, a continuation of the first season is scheduled to premiere on June 18th, 2026.
This anime is available only on Netflix, and the next season will likely be released there too. To build excitement for the return, Netflix Anime’s YouTube channel just released a new trailer showing how intense the upcoming battles will be. It’s set to be Baki’s most challenging fight so far, and he’s determined to win. The new part will have 12 episodes, and like past seasons, all of them will be available on Netflix at the same time.
What Is Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai About?
This anime is based on the second part of a manga series that ran from 2014 to 2018. Although the manga finished a while ago, the anime has only covered the beginning of the story so far. Given the anime’s success, we can likely expect other parts of the manga to be adapted into anime in the future. The original Baki Hanma manga was already turned into two seasons of anime and was highly praised for its exciting story and martial arts action.
The new anime series picks up after the events of Baki Hanma. Having won the title of the world’s strongest fighter, Baki finds himself restless and searching for a challenging opponent. Since resolving his conflict with his father, he hasn’t met anyone who can truly test his skills. While he easily wins matches in the Kourakuken Underground Arena, he’s frustrated by the lack of competition – none of his opponents are strong enough to give him a real fight.
Life was calm for Baki until a huge threat emerged: Musashi Miyamoto, a legendary samurai, was successfully cloned and brought into the present day. Musashi is now challenging all of Tokyo’s top fighters to prove his strength, and it isn’t long before he and Baki meet. The new season will continue the story right after the previous anime ended, finally showing the battle everyone has been waiting for as Baki fights to maintain his title as the strongest.
