Carmen Electra is ready to suit back up.
Now that a new version of Baywatch is being filmed, Kelly Slater, who played Lani McKenzie in the original show’s eighth season, hinted at whether she might appear in the upcoming series, which is being filmed in Los Angeles.
When asked about returning to certain franchises, she told Will Marfuggi of TopMob News at the premiere of Scary Movie 6 – where she actually makes a brief appearance – that Scary Movie and perhaps even Baywatch were possibilities.
Carmen’s main advice for new lifeguards is to “always be prepared.”
She explained that it takes a lot of effort. You really need to be in excellent condition before competing, and constantly improve your swimming skills. It’s demanding work, and definitely not easy.
The actor, known from Meet the Spartans, recalls being directed on set by an actual lifeguard who helped with a few episodes of the show.
She remembered him telling them they needed to do absolutely everything. He pushed them very hard, and she worries the current group will face the same intense pressure, though she suspects they probably will.
I’ll always remember how much fun Carmen had on Baywatch, even though it was physically demanding, and she feels exactly the same way about working with the Wayans brothers – Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans – on the first and fourth Scary Movie films. She has such fond memories of that time!

She expressed her appreciation for Kenan, and also praised the Wayans brothers, saying they genuinely care about helping others succeed. They’re willing to provide detailed guidance and support, and will offer a second chance to those they believe in.
Plus, it helps that they’re just plain old funny.
“I don’t know what else to say,” she joked. “They’re hilarious.”

Calling the role “a really big opportunity,” Carmen explained that it proved she had a good sense of humor, something many people didn’t realize. She felt it showed she was capable of handling such a challenging part.
She claimed the film studio didn’t want to cast her, but Keenen Ivory Wayans advocated for her to be included in the opening scene, where her character reenacts Drew Barrymore’s iconic scene from the original Scream.
