A hidden gem of a crime thriller featuring Jude Law is now a huge hit on . Called The Order, the show quickly became the most popular title in numerous countries worldwide.
According to FlixPatrol, The Order is the most popular movie in nearly every country. It’s currently number three in Bulgaria and number six in Hungary, a slight drop from yesterday. Everywhere else, including Croatia and Romania, The Order has been the top movie for the past three days.
The Order Is Finally Finding an Audience
After a small theatrical release in December 2024 that earned only $2.3 million, the movie The Order initially didn’t gain much attention. It was then released on Prime Video everywhere except the United States, which likely contributed to it being overlooked. Now, with its availability on HBO Max in several countries, The Order is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Justin Kurzel directed The Order, with a script written by Zach Baylin. Kurzel previously directed the 2016 Assassin’s Creed film, and Baylin has written screenplays for King Richard, Creed III, and Gran Turismo. Kurzel and Baylin collaborated again a year later on another project also featuring Jude Law.
This crime thriller is inspired by the 1989 book The Silent Brotherhood and follows an FBI agent investigating a violent white supremacist group called the Order, which operated in the U.S. during the 1980s. Jude Law plays the agent, Terry Husk, and Nicholas Hoult portrays the group’s leader, Robert Jay Mathews.
Even though The Order didn’t do very well in theaters, it’s recently become popular on HBO Max, likely because critics have called it a “grippingly intense thrill ride.” The film has a 93% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences largely agree, giving it an 89% score.
What’s Next for Jude Law?
I’m really excited to hear that Law is going to be in a new political thriller called The Wizard of the Kremlin! Vertical Entertainment picked it up for release here in the US, just like they did with The Order. From what I understand, it’s set in Russia in the early 90s and features Paul Dano and Alicia Vikander, which sounds amazing.
The actor will also appear in an upcoming comedy directed by Nancy Meyers for Warner Bros. Pictures. He’s joined by Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Owen Wilson, and Erin Doherty. The film reportedly centers on a filmmaker and producer who were previously a couple – both romantically and creatively – and are now reuniting after years apart to collaborate on a new movie. They’ll have to manage their complex history while also dealing with demanding actors during the production.
The Order is streaming on HBO Max in select international markets.
