I Always Feel Like Someone’s Watching Me

This new VR game continues the story of Little Nightmares, letting you play as Dark Six – the ghostly version of Six left behind in Little Nightmares II. You experience everything from her point of view as you explore Signal Tower, find other children who have been captured, and uncover secrets behind glowing doors. But beware – the terrifying Thin Man is lurking around every corner! The game focuses on moving around and solving puzzles while trying to avoid the Thin Man and his helpers.

As a fan, I was really impressed with how the game uses its environment. The whole tower and Pale City are filled with puzzles and challenges to figure out. But what really makes it special is how creepy and beautiful the world looks in VR – it’s seriously unsettling but in a really captivating way. Honestly, the best parts weren’t the big action moments, but just exploring and feeling that constant sense of dread with every step, and getting those unexpected scares! It’s a truly immersive experience.

As a horror fan, I have to say VR really amps up the scares, and Altered Echoes nails it! It’s genuinely creepy, with terrifying monsters, disturbing environments, and this constant feeling like you’re being watched. The game has a really cool, Tim Burton-style look that works perfectly in VR. The developers, Iconik Studio, did a great job balancing heart-pounding chases with slower puzzle sections and beautiful scenery, staying true to the original games. Honestly, it’s one of the most immersive and visually striking VR horror games I’ve played so far.

Wobbly Gameplay Shakes Up A Strong Horror Experience

Despite a well-built world and interesting scoring system, the game’s design sometimes pulls you out of the experience. While exploring feels good overall, the actual gameplay has a few frustrating issues. There are puzzles everywhere, but it can be awkward to pick up or move objects. You might also get stuck on scenery while running, which slows you down unexpectedly. Interacting with the world doesn’t always feel smooth – simple actions like moving obstacles can feel natural, but solving puzzles can be clunky and difficult.

The game gets noticeably more difficult when you have to move sideways, and one particularly strong section demonstrates this well. You’re stuck in a school with a terrifying teacher hunting you, and the suspense of avoiding her is fantastic. Seeing her transform into a snake-like creature is especially effective in VR. However, climbing the book tower can be annoying because the handholds aren’t always reliable. While this isn’t game-breaking, it does add some frustration and slightly breaks the feeling of being fully immersed in the experience, even though the tension remains high enough to keep you playing.

Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes successfully brings the unsettling atmosphere of the video game series to virtual reality. Though it relies heavily on jump scares and puzzles which might limit how often you’ll want to play it, Altered Echoes is impactful while you’re playing. Its short length works well with the game’s level design, and it skillfully builds suspense into genuine terror throughout.
