Marvel Just Officially Revealed the Best Avengers Line-Up in 20 Years

Marvel just announced a new Avengers team that many fans are calling the best in two decades. This follows a pattern Marvel started 24 years ago after a big storyline called “Disassembled,” where they revamped the team with popular heroes from across all their comics. Now, it’s common for Marvel to bring together characters from different parts of the universe, and the teams created after the Civil War event in 2006 were especially well-received.

Marvel is once again shaking things up. Their upcoming Avengers: Armageddon storyline will break up the current Avengers team, paving the way for a completely new group. Marvel has revealed the members of this new roster will include:

Marvel says this marks a return to the Avengers being central to their biggest stories, and it all begins with this new series!

The New Avengers Look Fantastic


This team feels like a classic New Avengers roster, promising plenty of interesting conflicts between characters. The interactions between Spider-Man and Wolverine are sure to be great, and there’s already a fun history between Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, as they’ve dated before. The team brings together heroes from all over the Marvel Universe – street-level heroes like Daredevil and Luke Cage, Spider-Man, the X-Men’s Wolverine, and established Avengers like Captain Marvel. The newest member is shrouded in mystery, and is likely to echo the role of the Sentry from Avengers comics twenty years ago.

I’m really excited about the upcoming Avengers #1, hitting shelves in November! Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto are teaming up for this one, and Zdarsky says it’s a huge honor to write Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He promises this Avengers run will be a flagship title for the Marvel Universe, packed with major events and plenty of surprises. He and Checchetto are really aiming to deliver something special with every issue, and from what I’ve heard, the artwork is absolutely stunning. I have a feeling fans are going to love it.

Okay, I’ve gotten a sneak peek at what Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto are cooking up for the next volume of Avengers, and let me tell you, it’s really impressive. Editor Wil Moss shared that they’ve nailed a perfect blend of strong character work, genuinely surprising moments, and big, blockbuster action. It feels both respectful of the Avengers’ history and incredibly fresh. Moss went so far as to say this run will be the central focus of the Marvel Universe moving forward, and honestly, after seeing what I’ve seen, I’m inclined to agree. He even hinted at a roster reveal that’s going to be huge – you definitely won’t want to skip this one!
