Fans were excited for the new trailer, but even they weren’t prepared for how long and detailed the extended trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping turned out to be.
Later this year, a new movie will take audiences back to the world of Panem. It will tell the story of a young Haymitch Abernathy (played by Joseph Zada) on the day of the 50th Hunger Games – a particularly dangerous event known as the Quarter Quell.
This year’s Hunger Games are even more brutal. The Capitol has doubled the number of tributes from each district, meaning 48 children will be fighting for their lives. Here’s a preview of what you can expect.
The new trailer offers a first glimpse of some of the most recognizable and intimidating characters from the series, with Ralph Fiennes playing Coriolanus Snow, Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket.

The trailer provides a better view of the actors playing key characters: Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Maya Hawke as Wiress, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier.
Haymitch is in trouble, and President Snow delivers a veiled threat, implying he knows secrets about Haymitch’s past.
“You love her and she loves you. But now, you are on your own. And may the odds…”

Directed again by Francis Lawrence, the new movie is based on the popular novel by Suzanne Collins, and excitement surrounding its release is incredibly high.
As a huge book and movie fan, I was amazed to hear that this book flew off the shelves, selling a whopping 1.5 million copies in just its first week! It made a splash not just here, but also in the US, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand – that’s incredible reach!
In its first week, the book sold 1.2 million copies in the US, which is double the initial sales of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and triple the first-week sales of Mockingjay.
The new Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping, will arrive in UK cinemas on November 20, 2026.
