The X-Men’s Greatest Foe Returns To Face Off Against Wolverine

Apocalypse is back in August, and this time he’s brought Jubilee into the fold as a new follower. In Tomb of Apocalypse #1, he tasks her with finding a powerful artifact left behind by the Celestials. Wolverine joins them on this quest, bringing together two popular X-Men characters for a team-up adventure.

This five-issue comic series, created by Ashley Allen and Domenico Carbone, centers around Apocalypse. He enlists Wolverine and Jubilee on a dangerous quest to recover a powerful artifact from his ancient tomb in Egypt. Their search leads them into a terrifying underground labyrinth packed with challenging puzzles, deadly traps, and other threats.

They travel to a faraway desert outpost, which turns out to be the burial place of Apocalypse and is under excavation by soldiers. Inside, they investigate and soon find their allies, Rictor and Shatterstar, are already there.

Apocalypse Is Just as Dangerous as His Name Sounds

Marvel has revealed more about an upcoming X-Men adventure. When a mysterious object crashes near the X-Men’s base, Jubilee sees it as a chance to show she’s more than just a caretaker. Using her powers, she accidentally activates the device, sending herself and Wolverine to Egypt – right to the Tomb of Apocalypse! There, they’ll investigate what Apocalypse is planning for the future of humanity and mutantkind, and they’ll team up with familiar faces Rictor and Shatterstar along the way.

The Age of Apocalypse was a huge comic book storyline that imagined a world where the villain Apocalypse brutally controlled everything. This alternate reality featured new and different takes on popular X-Men characters. In this world, Magneto surprisingly led a resistance against the X-Men. Since its original release, the story has been explored in many different comics, giving fans a more detailed look at this frightening alternate future. Marvel has collected the entire original Age of Apocalypse event into one large omnibus edition.

Jubilee is usually seen as one of the newer X-Men, and often finds herself needing to be saved. Despite being able to create and control powerful energy blasts – making her a threat on her own – she’s determined to prove her worth. The big question is whether she’ll succeed, or if this mission will be her undoing. Wolverine is another compelling figure, and while he and Jubilee are quite different, they actually have a lot in common. Both are remarkably resilient and have lived for an unusually long time.

Tomb of Apocalypse #1 will be available in August 2026 wherever comics are sold.
