Digital Eclipse is known for creating impressive digital collections of classic games, such as Atari 50 and the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection, but I especially appreciate what they’ve done with Barbie Rewind.
Instead of a typical online gallery, this experience feels like a pixel art PlayHouse. You can design Barbie’s house using furniture and accessories inspired by the brand’s past.
To unlock these items, you’ll need to play 16 classic Barbie video games released on various consoles over the years.
The lineup of games shown in the trailer includes:
- Barbie (1991)
- Barbie Game Girl (1992)
- Barbie Super Model (1993)
- Barbie Vacation Adventure (1994)
- Barbie: Race & Ride (1999)
- Barbie Super Sports (1999)
- Barbie: Pet Rescue (2001)
- Barbie: Groovy Games (2002)
- Super Agent Barbie: Royal Jewel Mission (2002)
- Barbie Horse Adventures Blue Ribbon Race (2003)
- The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery (2006)
Interestingly, this game isn’t backing down from the hype around GTA 6 and will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 12th – a week before Rockstar’s game comes out.
A physical version is available to pre-order from publisher Atari’s official website.
Okay, so I’ll be honest, I’ve never actually checked out any of the Barbie games before. But with all the buzz around the movie, now feels like the perfect time to finally give them a try, right?
