During its early years, Marvel’s Fantastic Four comics featured a number of unusual villains. While some became well-known characters, others evolved significantly over time. So far, two of those original foes have appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Namor was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Doctor Doom made a cameo at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Mole Man, the Fantastic Four’s very first villain, also appeared in that movie, and the Red Ghost (played by John Malkovich) was filmed but ultimately cut. Now, another classic villain, Dragon Man, is set to join the MCU.
As a big Fantastic Four fan, I was excited to read on Screen Rant that Dragon Man – a classic villain who first appeared back in 1965 in Fantastic Four #35, created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee – is finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Even better, it sounds like we’ll see the Fantastic Four back in action before the next big Avengers movie, Doomsday. It’s great to see some of the deeper cuts from Marvel’s history getting their moment in the spotlight.
Dragon Man is Coming to the MCU

Just a heads-up: this story won’t be adapted into a movie or Disney+ show. This September, Marvel is releasing a special single-issue comic called Fantastic Four: First Foes: Dragon Man, written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Mark Buckingham. This is one of several similar comics planned, and Buckingham is also working on another one featuring Shalla Bal, a character from the Silver Surfer series.
I’m so excited about the new Fantastic Four story! It seems like Ben Grimm, the Thing, is having a tough time dealing with being famous while looking the way he does. The big question is, will he finally find a way to become human again? And things get even more interesting with the arrival of this really scary android called DRAGON MAN – I wonder what role he’ll play in everything!
A new Marvel comic, set in an alternate universe (Earth-828), will explore the origins of the Fantastic Four and how they became famous heroes in that world. The movie’s opening showed hints of several villains, and introducing Dragon Man in the comics could reveal early challenges the Fantastic Four faced and provide more backstory for this unique version of the team. The first comic in this series, featuring the villain Mad Thinker, was released in March.
Dragon Man is a compelling character with an unusual history – he began as a villain but evolved into a hero and joined the Future Foundation. The Fantastic Four are expected to return in Avengers: Doomsday and will likely have a significant role in Avengers: Secret Wars. Although future films will primarily focus on the X-Men, the Fantastic Four are still anticipated to be important, and the introduction of Valeria Richards during Secret Wars could open the door for the Future Foundation to appear in the MCU, potentially bringing Dragon Man to life on screen.
