Tiger Woods is reflecting.
After taking a break from social media following his DUI arrest in March, the golfer returned with a Memorial Day post remembering his late father, Earl Woods.
In a recent Instagram post, Tiger shared that his father was a Special Forces soldier who served two tours in Vietnam over a 20-year career. He expressed gratitude to his father and all those who served, saying their sacrifices are the reason we enjoy life in the greatest country in the world.
Tiger Woods’ father, who was a major influence in his life, passed away in 2006 at the age of 74 after a fight with prostate cancer. Woods described his father as his closest friend and the person he looked up to most.
He added in a statement, “He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend.”
Before taking his current job, Woods, who has been with Vanessa Trump since 2025, had been keeping a low profile lately.
In March, the 50-year-old was arrested for driving under the influence in Jupiter, Florida. According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, a breathalyzer test showed his alcohol level was below the legal limit, but he refused to take a urine test, resulting in the charge. He has pleaded not guilty.
Following the arrest, the athlete confirmed he was stepping away to focus on his well-being.
In a statement posted on X on March 31, he acknowledged the gravity of his current situation. He announced he was taking time away to get treatment and concentrate on his health, explaining that this was essential for his well-being and long-term recovery.
Tiger Woods, who has two children – 18-year-old Sam and 17-year-old Charlie – with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, also spoke about wanting to become a better person.
He stated he’s dedicated to taking the time he needs to improve his well-being, both in his personal life and career. He expressed gratitude for everyone’s understanding and asked for privacy for himself, his family, and loved ones during this time.
