Katy Perry Goes Incognito With Astronaut Mask at Met Gala 2026

Katy Perry’s look is supernatural, extraterrestrial at the 2026 Met Gala.

Oh my gosh, you guys, Katy Perry was EVERYTHING at the Met Gala! She totally embraced the ‘Costume Art’ theme, and I swear, she looked like a real astronaut! She was serving serious ‘E.T.’ vibes as she walked up those iconic steps – it was a moment, honestly. I was completely obsessed with her look!

For the evening’s “Fashion Is Art” theme, Katy wore a white Stella McCartney gown with a long train and matching white gloves that reached her elbows.

It was hard to recognize her at the event, as the 41-year-old wore a white and silver mask that looked like an astronaut’s helmet. The evening was co-hosted by stars like Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. (You can see photos of all the celebrities who attended here.)

It felt especially fitting because the event was a reunion for Katy, Gayle King, and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, who all attended after having flown to space together on a Blue Origin launch last year.

Katy Perry hinted on X (formerly Twitter) on May 3rd that she might attend the Costume Institute benefit, simply asking, “Should I go to #TheMet?”

Katy Perry playfully showed off her style by posting a TikTok video. Set to her song “The One That Got Away,” the video featured her hands wearing gloves and flipping the bird to the camera.

Katy Perry, who has a 5-year-old daughter named Daisy with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom, is known for her bold and often surprising outfits at the Met Gala. In the past, she’s worn elaborate costumes like angel wings in 2018 and, in 2019, she really turned heads by arriving in a full chandelier dress and later changing into a cheeseburger costume!

I was absolutely thrilled when she received a Grammy nomination, but honestly, seeing her at the 2017 Met Gala was a real highlight for me. She co-chaired the event and her outfit was incredible – a stunning red coat by John Galliano over a beautiful tulle and chiffon gown. It perfectly fit the theme, ‘Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,’ and she truly embodied the artistic spirit of the night.

Katy shared with Vogue that 2023 felt like a turning point for her, saying she finally felt like she truly belonged in the fashion world.
