Extraction follows Tyler Rake, a fearless mercenary, as he undertakes a dangerous mission in India to rescue a young boy kidnapped because his father is a drug lord. The movie is a thrilling, fast-paced action experience, filmed to look like one continuous shot, and has already led to two sequels, with another one in the works. Now streaming on Netflix, it’s the perfect time to celebrate this surprisingly fantastic action film.
Filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho is back with a new zombie movie called Colony, set in a high-rise building in Korea during an outbreak. Sang-ho is famous for directing the 2016 hit Train to Busan, which is now considered a modern classic in the zombie genre. He released two other films this year, Revelations and The Ugly, though they received somewhat mixed reactions. Colony will debut at the Cannes Film Festival, a fitting location since Train to Busan also premiered there a decade ago.
It felt unbelievable. Ed always seemed indestructible, and he had the personality to match – determined and always ready for a challenge. He’d probably have wanted to live to 150, still in charge and causing a little bit of chaos. Episode 3 of Season 5 was particularly impactful. We all understood he was getting older, and that no one lives forever, but seeing it happen was still a shock and deeply saddened us.
I was correct – this episode is where Ed Baldwin passes away. “Home” feels like a tribute to him, showing him facing his final moments with strength and independence.
The deaths of Gordo and Tracy in the Season 2 finale were particularly impactful, and a season later, Karen’s death in the Season 3 finale, alongside Molly Cobb, during the Johnson Space Center bombing, was equally shocking. While viewers understand characters won’t live forever in a show that spans decades, the sudden and violent nature of these deaths established that no character was safe. For All Mankind clearly remembers those it has lost; recent appearances by characters from the past demonstrate that it’s the lasting impact on the story, not just survival, that truly matters.
In Season 5, Episode 3, “Home,” Ed dies on Mars after a battle with Stage 3 lung cancer. It’s a peaceful end for someone who often took risks with his life. His long-term exposure to radiation in space also contributed to his death, meaning he ultimately died doing what he loved. As he passes away, remembering his first space mission, it feels like a piece of the show, For All Mankind, is lost with him.
The movie, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, will be released on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
