Netflix Sets Release Date for Sci-Fi Thriller The Last House

I’ve got some exciting news for thriller fans! Netflix has set a release date of August 7th, 2026, for their new series, The Last House. We’ve just gotten a first look at some images, and let me tell you, this family is not having a good time – they look genuinely terrified by whatever strange situation they’ve found themselves in. The cast is fantastic, led by Greta Lee, who you might recognize from Russian Doll, and Wagner Moura, known for his work in Narcos and The Secret Agent. They play Ann and Jason, the parents, and they’re joined by a really promising young ensemble including Riley Chung (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Emma Ho (The Baker), Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8), and Gabriel Barbosa (May December). This one definitely has my attention!

10 Scariest Horror Movies Released Since ‘Sinister’

Horror movies have gotten much better over the last ten years, but they’ve also become more extreme with their violence and attempts to frighten audiences – more so than in many previous eras, especially since the 1970s. Unlike the simple slasher films and overly graphic torture movies of the past, today’s horror focuses on meaningful stories, building suspense, and creating well-developed characters. This approach makes the fear feel more real, the scares more impactful, and the monsters truly memorable.

Mortal Kombat II’s Johnny Cage Can Fix The First Movie’s Mistake

With the release of Mortal Kombat II just around the corner, director Simon McQuoid has a chance to improve on his first film. Instead of focusing on a new, less popular character, he could concentrate on elements fans already love from the Mortal Kombat series. Whether this change will make the sequel a success remains to be seen, but it’s a positive sign that could lead to a truly great movie.

Paramount’s 8-Part Sci-Fi Series Can Only Get Better

Netflix’s Stranger Things is moving away from its roots with a new animated spinoff, and it feels like the show is unsure of its direction. Similarly, the Star Trek universe is at a standstill. For the first time in years, there are no new Star Trek shows being made or planned, following the cancellation of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which was set to end in March 2026. This teen-focused series represented a significant departure for the long-running franchise.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea Review

The popular anime series Reincarnated as a Slime experienced a dip in popularity recently. Its third season was slow-paced, and the first movie wasn’t well-received, which diminished some of the excitement around the show. Now, the main character, Rimuru Tempest, is trying to regain fans with the release of both Season 4 and a new movie, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea.

Star Wars’ New Show Is ‘Andor Meets Rebels’

For years, fans had hoped for a more grown-up, realistic look at the Rebel Alliance, and Andor delivered – it was a stunning political thriller with morally complex characters. Rebels, geared towards a younger audience, offered compelling characters, explored the Force in depth, and meaningfully expanded the Star Wars universe. Both Andor and Rebels represent Star Wars at its finest.

Anne Hathaway’s Stephen King-Style Thriller Verity Gets First Trailer

The new trailer shows a suspenseful and disturbing film with some truly unsettling scenes. You can watch the trailer below.

Leadership Ruined Cyclops Yet He Still Leads Anyway

Cyclops is a controversial figure in the X-Men world, sparking strong opinions from both fans and other mutants. He’s known for being determined, powerful, and unwavering in his beliefs, but also for his significant flaws and occasional brushes with villainy. While he isn’t always seen as the ideal leader, Cyclops frequently becomes the X-Men’s go-to choice, which often causes conflict and division among allies. Leading continues to be a struggle for Scott Summers, but he feels unable to step away from the responsibility.
