Although The Acolyte wouldn’t primarily explore the political side of the Star Wars universe, it would have focused on a character’s potential turn to the dark side. It would have built upon the unfinished stories of characters like Ben Solo and Rey from the sequel trilogy, creating something fresh and original—something that apparently worried Disney. The show would have presented the Jedi not as the heroes we typically see, but as a powerful, unchecked system—almost like a delusional cult—masquerading as a religion.

Critics weren’t kind to Ralph Bakshi’s 1992 film Cool World, calling it everything from “surprisingly incompetent” to “weirdo cartoon diarrhea.” Starring Brad Pitt as a tough detective navigating a cartoon universe, the movie initially received very poor reviews and remains his lowest-rated film. However, over time, it’s gained a following as a bizarre cult classic. The story centers on a cartoonist lured into his own creation, Cool World, by a seductive animated character who wants to become human. Brad Pitt’s character, Detective Frank Harris, must then prevent her from obliterating both worlds.

Many superheroes start as sidekicks, and a lot of them eventually become major heroes themselves. Some even surpass their mentors and become fan favorites. Here are seven DC sidekicks who have developed into truly beloved characters over time.

As a longtime Marvel fan, I’ve seen a lot of their big events, and honestly, some have been real disappointments. During the week of April 20th to 26th, the movie Him reached number 7 on Netflix in the U.S., right after the new film Thrash. This marked the first time Him appeared in Netflix’s top 10.

Warner Bros. Discovery is partnering with D20 Culture to create a roleplaying game called Justice League Unlimited: The Roleplaying Game. Based on the popular Justice League Unlimited comic series – known for featuring a huge cast of DC superheroes – the game lets you play as established heroes or design your own. Excitingly, Mark Waid, a writer for the Justice League Unlimited comics, is co-authoring the game, and it will be available to support on Gamefound this July.
