Ian Tuason’s first film as writer and director has been getting a lot of attention since it premiered at a film festival last year. While our review gave it two stars, putting it on the lower end of ratings, it’s now showing in UK cinemas and aiming to scare moviegoers.

When George Lucas first started developing Star Wars, he actually imagined it as a retelling of the Arthurian legend! That’s why the idea of a special sword – like Excalibur, which sometimes glows when pulled from its sheath – felt so natural. You can still see echoes of that in the Star Wars universe with the kyber crystals, which are essentially what power and color each lightsaber. In fact, the name ‘kyber’ comes from an alternate name for Excalibur, ‘Caiburr’! But honestly, after nearly 50 years, those lightsabers just look incredible – they’ve really stood the test of time.
As a horror fan, I’ve been waiting for this one! For years, Tales From The Crypt has been conspicuously absent from most streaming services. Despite originating on HBO, it never made its way to HBO Max, which always felt like a missed opportunity. But fantastic news! Shudder, the streaming service dedicated to horror, is finally bringing the show back next month. Season one drops on May 1st, and they’ll be adding a new season every Friday after that. By June 12th, we’ll have the entire series available to stream – it’s the first time all of the Cryptkeeper’s creepy stories will be in one place online! And the trailer is awesome – John Kassir, the original voice of the Cryptkeeper, is back to deliver the goods. Definitely one to watch!
