Star Wars: Skeleton Crew ending explained – What happened to Jod?

Warning: contains full spoilers for Skeleton Crew.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew concludes in a thrilling and somewhat surprising manner, leaving fans eagerly demanding a second season.

Throughout the show, Jude Law’s character Jod became a hot topic of conversation due to his gradually unveiled true self. Interestingly, the actor himself was concerned about not meeting the expectations of Star Wars enthusiasts, fearing potential disappointment.

In the end, it proved victorious for Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) and his team as their parents joined the fight. However, the series concludes with some lingering mysteries yet to be resolved.

In this article, we’ll discuss the key events from the last episode of Skeleton Crew and their implications for Attin within the broader Star Wars universe.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew ending explained – What happened to Jod?

In my humble opinion, I must confess that Jod’s band of buccaneers suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the young warriors and Kh’ymm’s confederates. The remnants of their once formidable fleet were forced to beat a hasty retreat from At Attin.

Notably, he’s left alive, meaning he could potentially return to Star Wars in future.

The story opens with Jod bringing the kids back to At Attin. He behaves altruistically, informing the parents that their children are in deep trouble, and secretly ordering droids to monitor them to prevent them from revealing the truth.

In a threatening tone, Jod extends an invitation to Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and her mother, suggesting they meet with someone who turns out to be a robot, hinting at providing unique attention towards the duo.

In my passionate plea to the Supervisor, I tried to persuade him to allow my second vessel passage through the At Attin barrier and land. Unfortunately, I found myself ensnared in a deception when Fern, with her keen intuition, managed to alert the Supervisor and his mother that I was no ordinary captain – I was a pirate, bent on invading the Mint under false pretenses.

The Supervisor demands that Jod be captured, but instead, he eliminates the droid with his lightsaber. He coerces the Undersecretary (Kerry Condon) into revealing the passageway and takes command of At Attin’s systems, instructing his subordinates to initiate the invasion.

At Wim’s home, the electricity goes out – even for the robots – and he confides in his father the real story about Jod.

In a twist of events, Wim, Neel (Robert Timothy Smith) and KB (Kyriana Kratter) team up with a mission to rescue Fern from Jod. To seek assistance, they decide to contact Kh’ymm. Meanwhile, Wim’s father Wendle is left behind as the trio make their daring escape on hover bikes. However, they soon find themselves in danger and are compelled to take shelter as they come under fire.

Absolutely, Fern is already devising her own strategies, reassuring her mother by saying there are kind beings in the galaxy who she needn’t fear as the barrier lowers. Her intention is to secure one of the droid’s blasters, and she urges her hesitant mother to create a diversion.

When Wim and his dad arrive at Jod and Fern’s place, they deceive Jod by claiming Wim has collaborated with the Jedi. Skeptical as he is, Jod’s momentary disbelief allows Wendle to reestablish the energy flow.

With Neel’s assistance, KB successfully launches her ancient vessel aloft. She then summons Kh’ymm for aid, but it remains unclear how Kh’ymm’s faction can bypass the obstruction in their path.

Instead of plummeting, KB’s ship is descending rapidly towards the ground. The descent is marked by thick clouds of smoke, suggesting a catastrophic impact.

As a child, Jod discloses that a Jedi discovered him and initiated his education – however, she was pursued relentlessly and he tragically witnessed her demise.

What happened to At Attin?

At Attin had its barrier destroyed, meaning it’s now discoverable to the rest of the galaxy.

Following Jod’s disclosure of his past, Wendle physically confronts him, while Wim grabs hold of Jod’s lightsaber instead.

Disregarding her apprehensions regarding the cosmos, Fern’s mother assists in pulling the lever, aiming to demolish the obstacle. Confronted by Jod, both Wim and Fern stand their ground, with a lit saber in his hand.

As X-Wings fly through the barrier, coming to At Attin’s aid, Jod’s army of pirates retreat.

It’s fortunate that KB and SM-33 are safe and healthy following their rough landing. Likely, the people of At Attin can now start on their reconstruction efforts.
